A Masterpiece Woven by Time

Handcrafted carpets originating from Amritsar, a city in northwestern India and the spiritual capital of the Sikh community. The Sikhs—recognizable by their turbans that cover uncut hair in observance of religious devotion—consider Amritsar their cultural and spiritual heart. It is here that the Golden Temple stands, crowned with a gold-plated dome, a place of profound religious, cultural, and spiritual significance.

Amritsar lies in the historic region of Punjab, a land divided after partition between India and Pakistan—where the city of Lahore now stands, just 40 kilometers away. Punjab has carried a deep-rooted tradition of domestic carpet weaving for centuries. While this craft flourished extensively in Lahore, production in Amritsar has always remained deliberately limited, reserved for only the most refined workshops.

The Tabriz Amritsar carpets are created following the Tabriz design language and aesthetic, inspired by the legendary rugs of Tabriz, in northwestern Persia (modern-day South Azerbaijan), a region historically inhabited by Turkic-speaking Azeris. Many of the original Tabriz rugs that inspire this collection are preserved today in prestigious museums across Europe and the United States.

Each carpet is entirely handwoven, using the SHENNEH knot, natural treatments, and traditional methods passed down through generations. The process begins with a meticulous selection of wool—sourced from specific parts of the animal and chosen according to uncompromising quality standards. This continues through careful spinning, followed by high-density, double-weft weaving, executed by master artisans of exceptional experience.

Specialized craftsmen oversee every stage of finishing, applying time-honored techniques with patience and precision. The final result is achieved through attentive hand-finishing, carried out with care, discipline, and respect for the material. To be entrusted with the weaving of a Tabriz Amritsar carpet from this collection, an artisan typically brings over twenty years of experience—a testament to the complexity, cost, and refinement of the work.

Production takes place in the most esteemed atelier of Amritsar, a workshop whose standards have become a benchmark—almost a “school”—for high-end Oriental carpet weaving worldwide.

This collection is not guided by price, whether high or low, but by intrinsic value—the kind that defines a truly authentic handmade object.

Exports from Amritsar are strictly limited to select destinations in major Scandinavian cities and Canada, where similarly high standards of quality and appreciation prevail.
